What is ImageConvertFree?

ImageConvertFree is an online image conversion tool that runs entirely in your web browser. When you convert an image, the processing happens locally on your device using the browser's built-in HTML5 Canvas API — your files are never sent to any server.

It supports 7 image formats (JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, BMP, GIF, TIFF) across 31 conversion combinations. You can convert up to 20 images at once, control quality settings, resize images, and download everything as a ZIP archive.

Why We Built This

Most online image converters upload your files to a remote server, process them, and then delete them (hopefully). That approach is slow, raises privacy concerns, and requires a working internet connection to actually do the conversion.

We built ImageConvertFree to eliminate all of that. By running conversion entirely in the browser, we can guarantee that your files never leave your device — and the conversion is faster than any server-based approach.

How It's Built

The frontend conversion (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP) runs entirely in the browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Formats that browsers don't natively support for encoding (AVIF, TIFF) fall back to server-side processing using ImageSharp on ASP.NET Core.

The application is deployed on Railway with a PostgreSQL database for user accounts.
